LATEST NEWS - BLACK ACRE

We're currently in development on "Black Acre", a feature script I co-wrote with Filip Premrl. In the early script stages, we put together a conceptual trailer. I knew the script and ultimate film would change and evolve, but I wanted to keep excited about the project.

I also dragged a couple of my actor buddies, Jason Barbeck and Dwayne Adams, out to the county to shoot a bunch of conceptual photos. It was muddy and cold, but we had some laughs. We discovered this amazing abandoned farm house - very spooky. It'll probably cost more to recreate it as a set, then to buy the entire plot of land. Oh and I even backed over my camera tripod, damit.

FINDING ELECTRA

"Finding Electra" is a somewhat experimental film that explored the caustic relationship between a stripper and her loser boyfriend. The critical feedback was great - actually I think they found it uncomfortably accurate. Maybe most of the entertainment writers spend their time in dingy strip clubs! The film won "Audience Favorite" in Vancouver and was nominated for a Spirit Award in Toronto, so that was very cool.

The shoot was insane. Jason Barbeck (who also starred in the fim) and I, ran around the city in my old black Grand Marquis stealing shots. We almost got arrested in a parking lot frequented by hookers, got thrown out of a strip bar by a biker (we got that on film) and were overrun by rats in the "production office". We wrote that into the script as well. Buy us a beer and we'll fill in the details.

ADIN'S GAME

A funky little short I shot and directed and written by Jason Barbeck. It was born from a monologue Jay had put together. We shot it in abandoned school that my buddie's dad had purchased from the govt. He let migrant workers live there for free. We all hung out and drank cervases afterward.

LIGHT OF DAY

I put this together with Nick Shields and Cameron Hucker from Suede Productions for EMI recording artist Jody Raffoul. Our goal was music video as an art film. I knew our budget was limited and it's tough to compete with Bling without . . Bling, plus the idea that you can always find hope when things look tough is pretty universal. Anytime you can show truth in the eyes, you will always communicate.

SUPERSONIC

A music video for Detroit rockers, Blasternaut. It found rotation in both U.S. and Canadian markets and won best video at the MidWest Film & Entertainment Festival in Lexington, KY. This was my first project with an emerging camera technology, but I'm really proud of how it turned out - plus some great editorial and FX work from Phil Diesbourg and Cameron Hucker".
